Marking its first full revamp and the completion of the Museum’s three-year restoration, the People’s Museum invites Singaporeans to find their own place in the living story of a nation

Mark your calendars for an exciting new chapter at the National Museum of Singapore as its flagship Singapore History Gallery officially reopens on 10 October 2026.

Marking its first full revamp and the completion of the Museum’s three-year restoration, the Gallery presents a fresh, people-centred narrative exploring the continued evolution of Singapore’s identity. Spanning seven immersive zones, it brings history to life through compelling historical artefacts and stories, elevated by immersive, interactive multimedia spaces that trace the nation’s journey from a maritime settlement to a vibrant global metropolis.

The Gallery’s reopening also kicks off Stories of Everyday, the Museum’s 139th anniversary celebrations running from 10 to 18 October 2028 featuring a dynamic line-up of programmes and activities inspired by the lived experiences of everyday Singaporeans across generations, as well as the debut of the Museum’s charming new mascot, Stoney, inspired by the Singapore Stone. 

Visitors to the reopening celebrations can look forward to meet-and-greets with Stoney, photo opportunities with a larger-than-life Stoney installation on the Museum’s lawn and even take Stoney home in the form of a keychain plush, available at the Museum Martket by Abry store for $13.90 from 10 October onwards.

This milestone opening serves as a prelude to the Museum’s complete unveiling, with the full reopening of the Level 2 Life in Singapore Galleries slated for early 2027 in time for the Museum’s 140^th anniversary.

Singapore History Gallery 的重新开放也将拉开 Stories of Everyday 的序幕。这项活动将于10月10日至18日举行，庆祝博物馆成立139周年，并推出一系列丰富多彩的节目与活动，灵感源自不同世代新加坡人的日常生活与亲身经历。同时，博物馆全新的可爱吉祥物 Stoney 也将首次亮相，其设计灵感来自 Singapore Stone。

在重新开放庆祝活动期间，参观者可以期待与 Stoney 见面互动，在博物馆草坪上的巨型 Stoney 装置前拍照留念，还可以将 Stoney 带回家。Stoney 毛绒钥匙扣将于10月10日起在 Museum Martket by Abry 店铺发售，售价为13.90新元。

此次重要的重新开放也将为博物馆全面揭幕拉开序幕。Level 2 的 Life in Singapore Galleries 预计将于2027年初全面重新开放，适逢博物馆成立140周年。
