National Gallery Singapore will unveil Pop after Pop: Art around Us, the largest group exhibition of Pop Art and its legacy ever staged in Southeast Asia. Opening on 11 December 2026, this blockbuster exhibition brings together more than 200 artworks by over 100 artists primarily from Southeast Asia and the United States, extending across four exhibitions and various public spaces throughout the Gallery. Pop after Pop: Art around Us is presented by National Gallery Singapore, and organised in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation in New York, with key works on loan from its collection. This marks the first collaboration between the two institutions.

Through iconic works, larger-than-life installations and all things pop culture, Pop after Pop: Art around Us invites visitors to discover how artists transformed images, objects and experiences from everyday life into powerful reflections of the societies around them.

Highlights include works by renowned artists such as Roy Lichtenstein (US), Andy Warhol (US), and Barbara Kruger (US), alongside leading Southeast Asian artists including Ming Wong (Singapore), Antipas Delotavo (Philippines), FX Harsono (Indonesia) and Manit Sriwanichpoom (Thailand). Spanning paintings, sculptures, prints, installations and moving image works, the exhibition offers fresh insights into how artists have continually challenged the boundaries between art and everyday life.

Drawing from the collections of National Gallery Singapore, the Guggenheim and loans from private and institutional collections, the exhibition brings together celebrated works from the Pop Art movement and key artworks from Southeast Asia, presenting new perspectives about one of the most influential artistic movements of the 20th century.

Pop after Pop: Art around Us contributes to the global conversation on Pop Art by presenting ideas and perspectives from artists in Southeast Asia. While acknowledging how the global Pop Art movement originated in Britain and quickly flourished in the United States, the exhibition explores how the movement circulated transnationally and the ways in which artists from the region actively reinterpreted its vocabulary by turning to Southeast Asian popular and vernacular culture in their practice.

Southeast Asian artists inflected familiar imagery drawn from mass media, advertising and life in their cities to address their own political realities, social changes and cultural contexts. By doing so, they produced a lively world of forms that challenged fundamental ideas of what defines art. This exhibition uncovers these diverse artistic responses and examines Pop Art’s continuing relevance today.

Pop after Pop: Art around Us runs from 11 December 2026 to 4 April 2027 across the Singtel Special Exhibition Galleries 1 and 2, Special Exhibition Gallery 3 on Level 3, the Ngee Ann Kongsi Gallery on Level B1 and various public spaces throughout National Gallery Singapore. A Special Exhibition ticket is required to enter the exhibition spaces ($15 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents; $25 for foreign residents and tourists). Alternatively, Gallery Insiders enjoy unlimited free entry to the exhibition with membership, priced at $20 for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents and $35 for foreign residents and tourists.
