The Sony World Photography Awards has announced the 10 category winners and shortlisted photographers for the 2025 Open Competition.

Now in its 18th year, the competition celebrates powerful single images that capture a moment and tell a broader story. This year, over 419,000 images were submitted from over 200 countries. Among the winners is Ng Guang Ze from Singapore, whose mesmerising black-and-white image of a stream and grasslands in Wenhai, Lijiang, has earned recognition for its compelling narrative and visual impact, winning the ‘Landscape’ category.

The Open Photographer of the Year will be revealed on 16 April in London. Following this, winning and shortlisted images will be featured in an exhibition at Somerset House from April 17 to 5 May 2025, before traveling to other locations.
