Taking place from 17 January to 6 February 2025, ACM presents CELESTIAL: Light to Night at ACM as part of Light to Night Singapore 2025. This year’s theme celebrates the architectural marvel of pagodas and the wonders of the celestial world. Visitors can look forward to a dazzling outdoor art installation, engaging craft activities, and captivating live performances—including getai on a mobile float by Qingde Float & Design, celestial tales and Chinese opera with Tok Tok Chang, and live DJ sets by Bean&Beats. A standout highlight is We’ll Make Heaven a Place on Earth by Arterly Obsessed, a sculptural installation at ACM Green inspired by the timeless elegance of pagodas. During CELESTIAL: Light to Night at ACM, visitors can enjoy free admission to ACM’s special exhibition Pagoda Odyssey on selected days.
At Gardens by the Bay, welcome the Year of the Snake with Spring Blossoms, a brand-new floral display at the Flower Dome. Also on display are two intricately crafted models of pagodas linked to the Legend of the White Snake. The Compassion and Longevity Pagoda (Cishou Ta) is modeled after the 7-storey brick and wood Golden Island Pagoda of Blissful Longevity Temple in Zhenjiang, Jiangsu which was originally over 40 meters tall, and reflects the craftsmanship of its time. Joining this is Thunder Peak Pagoda (Leifeng Ta), a model of the Struck by Lightning Pagoda which was originally built during the Five dynasties period, and was significantly altered following a fire in the Ming Dynasty, leaving only its distinctive core intact. The model represents the real pagoda, albeit with an additional level, before it collapsed in 1924.

These rare models, on loan from ACM, are part of a collection of 84 model pagodas carved by Shanghai’s Tushanwan Workshop from 1912 to 1914 for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition of 1915 in San Francisco. The full set of 84 model pagodas reunites for the first time in over a century at Pagoda Odyssey, open from now until 1 June 2025. As part of ACM’s collaboration with Gardens by the Bay, visitors can also enjoy free admission to ACM. Terms and conditions apply.
