This June, take a walk down Singapore’s multi-religious and multi-cultural lane, right in the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct.

Created to celebrate Singapore’s shared heritage, the Ningpo Guild Singapore June School Holidays Edition event aims to strengthen mutual respect for different races, cultures and religions. From interesting nuggets of how the different streets in the Bras Basah.Bugis precinct were named, to how different places of worship came to be situated along the same same street, participants young and old will be fascinated by the various facets that make up Singapore’s multi-religious and multi-cultural identity.

Let the back alleys of Bugis enthrall children with their vibrant wall art and architectural heritage. Discover places of worship along Waterloo Streets and the inter-religious secrets within. Learn the craft of video editing to keep memories alive.

The half-day event aims to bridge gaps between generations:

  • Video editing with mobile apps focusing on storytelling techniques, how to use speech-to-text for subtitles, using filters, effects and overlays, and adding music to their video clips.
  • This is followed by a walking tour through the Bugis and Waterloo neighbourhoods, where participants explore the Bugis neighbourhood, and Waterloo Street with a focus on discovering the back streets and alleys that make the neighbourhood so unique. They will get to put their new video skills to use too!
  • After the tour, participants will visit the Ningpo Singapore Guild House to learn about our background and history. Take a look at our photos, and also the various items collected from when the Guild House started as well as sample some traditional Ningbonese cuisine.
